Operation Christmas Child Swap
Sign-up date: October 30, 2007
Swap date: November 12, 2007
Here's a Swap-Bot swap that Shawnee alerted me to. (She's the brains behind this selfless swap!) The religious organization Samaritan's Purse gathers and distributes shoeboxes filled with goodies to needy children. Put together a box, take it and $7 to a collection spot near you (or mail it to headquarters) and then write your partner about your experience.
As an aside, I feel I need to note that I do not believe in Evangelism. Though you don't have to be religious to give a package to Operation Christmas Child, the website makes it quite clear that to receive one, the children must listen to the Christmas message and are encouraged to accept Jesus Christ, even if their family is of a different faith. Be sure to read the website and make sure you are comfortable with this. If so, then this is a wonderful, charitable swap for you!
Please note the swaps listed are NOT hosted by the SwapDex. Visit each host's site by clicking the underlined link within each post to view further information and sign up.
