Interview with Jennifer of Rosy Little Things

Jennifer has a really delightful blog called Rosy Little Things where she shows off her crafts, swap packages and vintage finds. Pure eye candy! SwapDex: Tell us a bit about you.

Jennifer: I am 34, I live in Jamestown, NC- we moved here from Napa, Ca. I lived my whole life in northern CA until now. I have been married for 12 years, I have three kids, daughters 11, 8 and son almost 2. I pretty much dabble in all kinds of crafts, most often I sew and knit, but I also make jewelry, paper crafts, & scrapbooking (which I am SOOO behind on).

SD: How long have you been swapping?

J: about a year

SD: How did you learn about swapping, and what made you decide to do your first one? Do you remember your first one?

J: I saw a swap gift on someones blog and signed up for swap-bot. The first one I did was a newbie swap, nothing great.

SD: Do you swap with any groups? What do you like/dislike about an more exclusive swapping environment as opposed to a swap open to anyone?

J: I swap with a few groups on flickr and actually prefer this to swap-bot as I know the people I am swapping with are reliable and send good stuff. I have also signed up on a few different bloggers' swaps, which can be great or not so great depending on your partner.

SD: What's your favorite type of swap or favorite swap you've ever been in or hosted?

J: I love any type of vintage swap. I also love fat quarter fabric swaps.

SD: Do you have a signature style for your swaps? Do you decorate your envelopes/packages? Send a card with a personal note?

J: I don't have a signature style, I research what my partner likes and make and buy accordingly. I always attach a note and try to wrap things nicely.

SD: What's you favorite type of package to get in the mail?

J: I always appreciate the swaps I receive that are personalized just for me, with things I love.

SD: Do you have a good story about hosting or participating in a swap? A horror story?

J: There are always a few swaps that are disappointing, where someone is cleaning out their stash and didn't personalize it at all. I am currently hosting my first swap, Vintage Pink Christmas swap. So far everything has gone smoothly. I have met a lot of amazing bloggers that are now friends.

SD: What do you think is the most challenging part of hosting a swap?

J: Staying organized, and worrying that people will flake on their partners.

SD: Any advice for someone who is thinking about hosting a swap?

J: It is a lot of work, make sure you have the time to dedicate to it. Be organized.
