Interview with Lisa and Regina of Craft Craving Chicas

ANOTHER double interview! I know, we just had one last week! And as an extra special treat, another one this week! Regina and Lisa are Craft Craving Chicas and paper crafters extraordinaire! They sell paper crafting kits, check them out here!

SwapDex: Tell us a bit about you

Regina: I'm 29...scrapping and paper crafts are my passion. I wake up in the morning and all I can think about is what can I make today! I am a Co-Owner of Craft Craving Chicas, my partner is Lisa. We launched our blog in June of 2009. So far so good. We have lots of gals who love the kits we put out. I live in Sacramento, Ca. I'm married and have 3 children (All boys!).

Lisa: I'm 34...and I love to make all sorts of things, from scrapbooking and making jewelry, to making candles! I love to create!! Anything and everything I can!!! I live in Texas. I have 2 wonderful kids! I Co Own Craft Craving Chicas with my best gal Regina! We have fun doing what we do!..I also love to make all sorts of things, from scrapbooking and making jewelry, to making candles! I love to create!! Anything and everything I can!!!

SD: How long have you been swapping? How did you first learn about swapping, and what made you decide to start?

Regina: Just over a year. I started on Cafemom. I wanted to learn more techniques and get inspiration from others.

Lisa: I have been swapping a little over 2 yrs now. I started on Cafemom. Then I become owner of a scrapbooking group on cafemom, and really started swapping. I loved the idea of getting other peoples work. Everyone has their own style, and I loved getting things that someone else had made!

SD: Do you remember your first one?

Regine: Yes! Haha...I did a simple card swap. The requirements were to use one embellishment. I still remember what it looked like.

Lisa: Yes! I joined in on a girly girl ABC 6x6 layout swap..WOW was that time consuming, but so much fun!

SD: Do you stick to swaps hosted by people you know or are you likely to swap with anyone, anytime?

Regina: I stick to swaps hosted by people I know...or have heard of. Once I did a 7 card swap and the hostess took off with all the cards. I was devastated!! :( (I think it was my second swap I had ever done)

Lisa: I stick to swaps hosted by people I know...or have heard of. I have had several swaps never returned to me, so you live and learn..lol

SD: Do you swap with any organized groups like yahoo groups, flickr, groups on swap-bot, other message boards, etc? Why or why not?

Regina: For now...just cafemom. I would like to learn more about other groups though.

Lisa: For now..just a couple on cafemom, and of course on Craft Craving Chicas!

SD: What's your favorite swap you've ever been in or hosted?

Regina: It was hosted by Lisa and it was a Altered Composition Swap...it was so much fun that we did it 3 times!

Lisa: I hosted a altered composition notebook, and I loved it! It was so much fun! I also loved a secret sister swap I hosted! I loved getting surprises in the mail!

SD: What do you do to make your packages special?

Regina: I buy what I would like to use or receive. I like unique things and so I try to get things people would think to use.

Lisa: I like to put a little bit of my personality into my work! I only use things I would use for myself, and I like to include a special gift for the person it's going to.

SD: Do you have a good story about hosting or participating in a swap?

Lisa: I got a package one day that I had no clue who it was from. It was a package full of Prima flowers! I love primas! I got so emotional that day, and as of today, I have no clue who sent it to me!

SD: What do you think is the most challenging part of hosting a swap?

Regina: Keeping up with everyone and making sure everyone gets replied to in a timely fashion.

Lisa: Keeping up with everyone and making sure everyone gets replied to in a timely fashion.

SD: Any advice for someone who is thinking about hosting a swap?

Regina: Be prepared for people who sign up for swaps but don't end up participating! It never fails....I have not hosted a swap yet where someone forgets about the swap or is MIA when it's due.

SD: Any exciting plans for the near future?

Regina: Well...I plan to spend more time on my blog. I spent so much time working for Craft Craving Chicas that I haven't posted much on my blog.

Lisa: I plan to keep making new friends! and keep doing what I love, Craft! I plan to eventually make my own embellishments for my kits, and incorporate my personality in them.

SD: Awesome, ladies! It was so fun to see your responses to the questions, you can tell you ladies are GREAT friends!
