Interview with Gina of The Shabby Chic Cottage

Fairly new to swaps, Gina is a Shabby Cottage Goddess! Be sure to check out her blog right now for the 12 Days of Christmas in July, full of great project every day! And don't miss her Etsy shop!

SwapDex: Tell us a bit about you.

Gina: Mr. SCC and I have two girls, and a plethora of pets (4 dogs, 2 turtles & a cat). I am a blogger and run an Etsy shop, full of cottage and beach inspired home goods. I will paint anything that stands still long enough (just ask the cat :).

SD: How long have you been swapping? How did you first learn about swapping, and what made you decide to start? Do you remember your first one?

G: The Spring Supply Swap is the first swap I have ever hosted. I did participate in a shabby chic style swap about a year ago and I loved it! It's fun to get packages in the mail! I've also done a couple of private swaps with blogging buddies, and loved shopping specifically for my friends. Who says gift giving should only be for specific holidays? Good friends are reason enough to celebrate!

SD: What is your range of swapping? Do you stick to swaps hosted by people you know or are you likely to swap with anyone, anytime?

G: I haven't really done enough swaps to have a "range," but hope to do more in the future.

SD: Do you swap with any organized groups like yahoo groups, flickr, groups on swap-bot, other message boards, etc? Why or why not?

G: Nope - not a member of any of those. I spend most of my time either blogging or on Etsy - or working for one of those ventures.

SD: What's your favorite swap you've ever been in or hosted?

G: My favorite was a private one with a friend from California. I saw something on her blog that I loved but couldn't get here, so I sent her some items from a store that she didn't have in her area. I still talk to her quite often & love everything she sent me!

SD: What do you do to make your packages special?

G: The time & thought that goes into the package, along with how it's wrapped. Getting gifts are fun, but getting beautifully wrapped gifts are even better!
